Goodbye March! Hello April! π As many of you, my life is currently on hold because of the global pandemic that has befallen upon humanity. It is all very terrifying, but I believe that if everyone does their part, the pandemic will be easier to contain and we will be back to our daily life once again. So, if you can, just stay at home, okay? This said, I solemnly swear that I will begin joining Sunday Post once again and share with you all my weekly adventures at home.
This month in my life:
π» Did I ever tell you how much I hate cooking? I really don't like it, especially because I always end up hurting myself. *staring at the cut in my finger* However, in the last weeks I made pizza dough and tomato sauce from the scratch, egg muffins, baked cookies and "queijadinhas" and there was still time for some bread dough and a tuna lasagna that didn't turn out very well because I forgot to wrap it in aluminum foil.
π» I'm conquering my TBR pile! Or I wish I was. π This month I read four more books and I fear this has become the official number of books that I can read per month.
π» The deadline for the fellowship I'm applying to was postponed. I only hope this doesn't mean the results will be announced much later than expected because my future depends on this fellowship (I'm not being overly dramatic).
π» My beta reading page is LIVE! If you want to help this girl improving her finances, just take a look at it and please share!

- Although this topic scares me to death, I had lots of fun writing about how much I hate book covers with snakes. I will be a very happy person when this trend comes to an end...
- I shared my review of Thorn. If you love fairy tale retellings, amazing character development, arranged marriages and beautiful magical worlds, then Thorn is the perfect book for you.
- Since e-readers receive so little love from readers, I decided to write a post explaining all the reasons why I love my e-reader. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy physical books, but as an international reader and a reader that must be very careful with her finances, my Kobo has become my best friend.

How was March? Are you staying at home?
How many books did you add to your TBR pile?

I cook all the time but it's only been in the past 6/7 months I mastered light and fluffy homemade pizza dough and perfected the sauce. We (aka I) make it almost every Friday now but the professor likes to claim half the credit for adding the cheese and toppings, lol. Pizza is harder than it sounds, so well done!
ReplyDeleteI wish I was conquering my TBR pile. Mine is an ever growing monster! And right now, I'm struggling to read! *sigh*
Will be checking out your review for Thorn - I've never had much interest in the series but your one sentence summary captures lots of things I love so now I fear I'm missing out...
Hope your week goes okay! Lockdowns suck but hopefully they'll pass before too long and we can get back to some normalcy.
Yay for facing your cooking dislike and making some new things from scratch! I hope the results for the fellowship aren't postponed too much later either. And hey, four books a month is a great amount. That's still a book a week which in all honesty is an amazing number. I have been hearing good things about Lobizona and will be curious to see what you make of that one.

I hear you on cooking -- I hate it myself, mostly bc nothing ever looks like it should lol -- but good on you on getting *all* of that made! Not to mention: e-readers rock, and anyone who doesn't appreciate them is seriously missing out!
ReplyDeleteThat's stressful having to wait to hear the fate of your fellowship. I hope the conclusion is worth the wait. Look at you, honing your culinary skills while on lockdown. That is time well spent.
ReplyDeleteI'm also fearful for the virus pandemic that's going on. I just hope that everyone will stay safe during this crisis.

I hope you're keeping well and safe! I'm staying home as much as possible. The UK is supposed to peak next week, so hopefully things will start getting better from then!
ReplyDeleteI added so many books to my TBR this month...oops?
My Monthly Wrap-Up Post!
Lobizona looks really interesting!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, sounds like you’ve been productive with your cooking during the pandemic and that is awesome. I am a bit of a terrible cook but I’ve trying to branch out a little and try new things as I have to try and make my groceries last and it’s actually been really good for me. I may be stuck at home all day everyday but I’ve found an awesome recipt for some homemade chips and I’ve discovered a few new things I didn’t even know I liked.
ReplyDeleteDon’t beat yourself up if you’re not reading as much as you’d like. you’re still reading and your monthly reading number is better than mine anyway.
I really hate cooking too, but I can't really say I'm getting better right now. We aren't eating out, though, so I guess I'm getting practice.

I don't mind cooking--I like baking better and always have. My problem with cooking is that I love spicy vegetarian foods and my family does not like spicy at all and prefers hamburgers. I haven't stepped into a store in over a month, so I'm doing my part and staying home.
ReplyDeleteI have Lobizona and Where Dreams Descend! Both sound fantastic. I'm bummed that Lobizona's release date was pushed back, but I can understand why. I hope we enjoy are new reads! As for cooking... ALL THE TIME. My kids eat constantly. ;)
