Goodbye February! π After a disastrous January, February was a month of plans and of getting
better - I spent three weeks recovering from a very weird cold. Moreover, it was a month of change as you can see by my new blog template. What do you think? This is one of the many changes that you will see through the year. After all, in October I will celebrate my tenth blogging anniversary & I decided it's time to give a little bit more love to my blog.
This month in my life:
π» To give this corner a little bit more love, I also decided to contact a few publishers.
π» I'm slowly going through my reading pile. I read four books so far and I'm hoping to finish one more.
π» I submitted one of my essays to an academic magazine. Now, my wait begins. π Please, keep your fingers crossed.
π» My job hunting quest isn't going very well, although I did receive an offer, but I'm too penniless to accept it. Anyway, I'm not losing hope. If you hear something about proofreading, revision, writing, and/or Portuguese translation freelance works, would you mind sharing with me? Thank you.
π» I've also been thinking about doing beta reading to gain experience, but I'm not sure where to start...

- I reviewed The Will and the Wilds by Charlie N. Holmberg and Woven the Moonlight by Isabel IbaΓ±ez. I may get back to them and share a few more details because I feel they are too short and don't actually convey all my feelings about these books.
- I finally shared my can't wait books of 2020. It's a very long list, so you may find something you are also excited about and we can't survive the wait together. I confess it could be a lot longer if some covers had already been released. Or if I had seen Category Five by Ann DΓ‘vila Cardinal sooner. How did I miss it?!

Second, I bought I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn (I've been eyeing this book since I saw it over at Sam's blog), Geekerella & Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston, The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F.C. Yee and The Shape of My Name by Nino Cipri for less than two euros at Kobo store.
How was February? Did you find new favourite books?
How many books did you add to your TBR pile?

Hey Tania, I am stopping by for the first time from Kimberly's Sunday Post! My February flew by and I wish I had been as productive as you, although I did manage to start a spring clean in my half-term break. I love your blog design: it is very pretty. I also gave my blog a bit of spring revamp in February, too. Good luck with the job hunt and happy reading!

ReplyDeleteGood luck on the job hunt. I'm glad February was better for January for you. Good luck getting your essay published!
ReplyDeleteHallo, Hallo Tania!!
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful I tweeted you the other day about your comments section! I was looking forward to reading your blog and leaving you notes as I roam through your archives; its such a shame they did away with OpenID but I'm thankful you were receptive to my feedback! Sorry too that this response comes a bit delayed - all of a sudden I was getting a lot of messages all at once and it took me a bit to return to your beautiful blog!
I felt like January was such a hard start to a New Year - not just due to current events and the news of the Australian Bushfires crushing my soul but just 'overall'. Then, by February I was making loads of plans myself - which books to read, posts I wanted to write and a lot of Top Ten Tuesdays which never left Drafts! *le sigh* I was struck down by a severe cold which acted weirdly as well - first, it anchoured a bad migraine and then, I felt like I had strep throat, nearly lost my voice and my ears! I never experienced sore ears before! :( No audiobooks could be heard and that was the worst - as I had several I planned to hear those last two weeks!
Super congratulations on your 10th Year as a Book Blogger! I'm about to ring in my 7th this 31st of March!! I love celebrating these milestones as we all put so much love and care into how we blog, why we blog and just to champion the stories, authors, characters and worlds we love to be reading!
I've had a few new opportunities come my way recently, this is why I enjoyed my last two Sunday Posts ( you can read my latest one) as the first one talked about being an influencer for my first book subscription box (Once Upon A Book Club) and for LibroFM's ALC programme. This one I've shared a link for expands on my news for OUABC as well as the joy of an unexpected book parcel for a bookaway I won which features a Middle Grade Fantasy novel. Despite the angsts of February yesterday morning I realised I had some tucked in small joys which made the month quite lovely. I think sometimes our perspective is altered when we're ill!
I used to beta read myself - if you visit my blog, look under "My Bookish Life" (top menu) and visit my page. I had to go on sabbatical due to chronic migraines but there is a good overview of how I approached it and what I did as a beta reader that might be inspiring? I originally was going to be a freelancer and offer paid services but that didn't work out for me so I had to do it pro bono. (for free)
I'm going to come back to your blog later tonight and comment further about the stories I want to read and which news ones you've tipped my hat to find. I just want you to know how thankful I am you allowed these comments to go through! Have a very blessed day!
Your blog looks fantastic! I'm so sorry you had such a long recovery from your cold. I hope you stay healthy the rest of the season. Wishing you lot of luck with your essay! 10 years is amazing! I am so impressed with your dedication. Hope you have a good March!
