Reading & Blogging Challenges. Planning an Epic Year

It's the end of the year. Do you know what that means? Yep, it's time to organize a new reading and blogging year. I decided to keep it simple for 2020. I'm joining three reading challenges and one blogging challenge. I joined all of the below challenges throughout this year and it was so much fun that as soon as they were announced I knew I was going to sign up. These challenges helped me tackle down my ever-growing TBR pile (not as much as I wanted to, but it was a busy year) and I finally wrote and shared discussion posts. I'm really excited about these challenges and I'm hoping to do a lot better. ๐Ÿ˜Š
BEAT THE BACKLIST hosted by @ Novel Knight

It's the third year in a row that I'm signing up to join this challenge. This is actually one of my favourite reading challenges because it helps me read books that have been on my TBR pile for a very long time. I was able to surpass my initial goal (ten books), so in 2020 I'm hoping to read twenty backlist titles. Last year, I joined the Hogwarts House Mini Challenge as part of team Gryffindor. I was doing very well, adding books and updating my reading sheet, but then everything got so busy that I completely forgot to keep doing it. However, I'm going to try again this year and I promise I'll be a good teammate to my fellows Multi-Taskers. These are some of the titles I've picked to read in 2020 (I'm keeping the two titles that I was not able to read this year):

    • A Place Called Perfect by Helena Duggan;
    • Creatures of Will & Temper by Molly Tanzer;
    • Eon by Alison Goodman;
    • Sherwood by Meagan Spooner;
    • The Beautiful by Renรฉe Ahdieh;
    • The House of Shattered Wings by Aliette de Bodard;
    • The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James;
    • The Night Circus by
    • The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater;
    • The Twisted Tree by Rachel Burge;
    • Tunnel of Bones by Victoria Schwab.

    DYSTOPIA READING CHALLENGE hosted by Brittani @Hope, Faith & Books

    It's true that I only ended up reading four dystopias in 2019 and they were all reviewed on Goodreads, but as any good Girl on Fire I don't give up. Thus, I'm officially joining this challenge once again. As I mentioned in several posts, I'm a huge fan of dystopias and I'm hoping the new decade brings more of these twisted societies. Also, a little bird told me that I'll be reading (and re-reading) many more dystopias next year. After all, the prequel of The Hunger Games will be released in just a few months and my new academic project is all about gothic dystopias. ๐Ÿ˜œ I'm once again aiming for the Rebel badge, in which I've to read and review 6 to 10 dystopian books.

    RETELLING READING CHALLENGE hosted by Tracy @Cornerfolds

    This is the one challenge that I always do amazingly great (I'm not bragging) because I'm obsessed with retellings. Gosh, I'm sounding like a broken record, right? Anyway, last year I picked the Elemental Witch level (10 to 15 retellings) and I ended up reaching the High Fae one.

    I noticed that 2020 will be a year with many retellings coming out (I love how every year more and more retellings are published) and I still have tons of retelling in my TBR pile (I may or may not be exaggerating), so this year I'm picking the High Fae level. I will attempt to read 16 to 20 retellings. Nevertheless, I'm hoping to finally reach the highest level.

    I will be doing the bingo card as well and I'm hoping to get bingo at least once (I really tried this year, but I didn't get bingo - however, I was one prompt away from getting a bingo in many rows).

    2020 DISCUSSION CHALLENGE hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight

    By the second year in a row, I pledge to myself to share more discussion posts. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    This Discussion Challenge as actually helped me write and share discussion posts about books and everything book-ish. I aimed at Discussion Dabbled, but I think I managed to reach the Creative Conversationalist level (I'm feeling too lazy to count how many posts I shared this year). I know that I created too many book lists, but I tried to always share with you why the books mattered or why I was excited about them. One of my favourite posts to write for this challenge was about how books affect my mental health, even if it was very personal and I haven't found the courage yet to reply to your lovely comments.

    If you're interested in joining, this challenge is all about promoting discussions about whatever you want as long as it’s related to books and/or book blogging. There are five levels and, as last year, I'm hoping to reach the first one, Discussion Dabbler. Life has been uncertain (I'm expecting a lot more chaotic-ness) and I'm not sure how my 2020 will be.

    You can use the hashtag #LetsDiscuss2020 to share your progress and connect with other participants on Twitter (this is a a great form to give some visibility to discussion posts).

    Which challenges will you be joining in 2020?

    If you like my blog and would like to support it, you may use my Book Depository Affiliate Link or buy me a coffee. You may also buy some bookish items from my RedBubble store.

    1. Whoo hoo! Always happy to see people participating in the Discussion Challenge. It's a favorite of mine. Retellings are fun, and reading my backlist is always a goal of mine. Good luck with all of these.

    2. Love all of these challenges and these sound so good! I love reading backlist titles and I want to read Sherwood too. The Raven Boys is one of my favourite books! So I hope you will love it whenever you get around to it.

    3. Good luck with your challenges! I'm doing Beat The Backlist too (second year) and I'm taking a stab at the discussion challenge.

      I really want to add the Retellings challenge as a last minute addition to my list (as I LOVE a good retelling) but I've tried to keep my challenges really broad this year... But then again, there's plenty of scope in Retellings so, who knows! ๐Ÿคท
