This is one of the challenges that I feel like I'm rocking it. 😋 Once again, most books I read in the second quarter of the year were published before 2019 (most books were published in 2017 and 2018). Three months ago I changed my goal from ten to fifteen backlist titles, but since I've now surpassed it, I changed my goal once again and now I'm aiming to read twenty backlist titles. I've yet to submit some the titles I've read to the Hogwarts House Mine Challenge (go Gryffindor!🦁), but I'm so happy that I'm not failing my team this year.
From the titles I picked to read when I joined Beat the Backlist, so far I read 5 out of 10 (one more book than in my last update).
- A Place Called Perfect by Helena Duggan;
A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna;- Creatures of Will & Temper by Molly Tanzer;
- Goblins of Bellwater by Molly Ringle;
- Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young;
State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury;The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White;The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill;- The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James;
The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw.
DANCING WITH FANTASY AND SCI-FI hosted by Annemieke @ A Dance With Books
It's time to update some bingo cards! I'm only sharing my Fantasy Bingo Card because I keep being awful at reading science-fiction novels - in the last three months, I've only added one more book to the sci-fi section, which means I read 2 out of 20 books. Now, when it comes to fantasy, I think I'm doing fine. So far, I've read 9 out of 20 books (maybe I've read a few more books that I can add to the prompts, but I'm not sure if they fit the categories properly and I'm trying not to cheat).
I haven't given up this challenge yet! I'm still very behind because, for some odd reason, I haven't felt like reading any dystopias lately - even if I love them with all my heart. Maybe now that it was announced that a The Hunger Games prequel will be released next year, I'll find myself feeling like reading more dystopias. Maybe these AMAZING news will help me win that Rebel badge that I want so much!!! *fingers crossed*
This is another challenge that is going well. I read 10 out of 15 books and three of them have been reviewed. Yes, I'm still aiming at the Elemental Witch level. And yes, I'm still hoping to reach the next level. Regarding the bingo card, 6 spaces have been filled.
HARRY POTTER BOARD GAME READING CHALLENGE hosted by Naura @ The Perks of Being Noura - I'm hoping to start this one in August.
As I mentioned above, I'm actually very happy with the number of discussion posts that I've been able to write in the last three months: I've written and shared 9 book-related discussion posts. I don't think I ever wrote so many discussion posts in all blogging years as I did in from April to June. However, the most important is that I had a great deal of fun sharing them with you. So here's my long list (for some of you short list; you must tell me your secret to come up with so many discussion posts) of discussion posts:

Wow, you're doing good in your challenges! I decided to not join challenges. I can never go through with them. So I'm only sticking to Goodreads Challenge, which I already completed my goal :) And where do you get ideas to write discussion posts?! I've only written 2 or 3 since I started blogging again and idk from where else to get inspo.

Thank you. :) I usually never go through with any challenge, but this year I'm trying to stick with those I joined. Congratulations on finishing your Goodreads Challenge. I'm wondering if I'll be able to complete mine... I wish I could tell you. I'm still not sure how I've ideas for discussion posts. =P

Nice job! I am not doing an official backlist thing, but I am pushing myself to read more. So far, all my choices have been hits for me too. I regret leaving them on the shelf so long.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sam. I can't believe how some of these backlist titles stayed on my shelf for so long. They are so freaking good!!!

Check you out rocking the Beating the Backlist challenge, I wish I was doing as well as you reading some older books. I love the idea of doing reading bingo cards as well, great way to try and figure out what to read next and you're doing so well (and staying strong on the not cheating, I would be so tempted). I have to say, you are doing so much better with reading challenges than I ever do. I mean, if the dystopian one is the only one where you're struggling a little I'd say you're doing well. Hopefully you'll find some dystopians you want to read for that soon, I do think fewer have been released that probably hasn't helped you with that.
ReplyDeleteMy bookshelf is really happy that I'm finally reading some backlist titles. :) It's so tempting to cheat on bingo cards. But I'm trying to be a good book dragon (not sure how long it will take for this book dragon to turn to the evil side). =P I must agree with you: if more dystopias were being released, I'd probably be in the mood to read dystopian novels.

Get it! You are doing so much better than me with the Backlist Challenge, but we seem to be in the same boat BINGO wise. So close, yet so far away.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope we can both fill out our bingo cards. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteWow, you are doing an especially great job with the Beat the Backlist challenge. I'm impressed! I'm also glad you shared that retellings bingo card. I'm really just getting geared up on that challenge and had forgotten all about the bingo.
ReplyDeleteThank you Suzanne. :) Ahah, I usually also forget all about the bingo, but this year I decided to print all my bingo cards and keep them close. *starts looking for them because has no clue where they are*

The re-tellings challenge is one I should have signed up for (but didn't know it existed until recently). I love retellings! Good luck with the rest of the year. You're doing great.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can still sign up? I'm not sure, but I think you can sign up until the last day of the year. :) Thank you, Nicci.

You're doing really well with your challenges Tania! ❤️ I will admit that I struggle with the discussion challenge at times. Sometimes I sit on an idea too long. >.< So I'm really impressed. :D Especially with how much you have going on with school too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dani. :) I also struggle a lot with the discussion challenge. It's so hard to find ideas and then write them down! Aww, thank you. <33
