Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviews. |
Welcome to another Sunday Post! This post comes later than usual, but for a very good reason: I've just added the final touches to my thesis and I'm about to send it for one last correction. 😄 *fingers crossed that I don't have to make any major changes and that I can start getting ready to defend it, even if just thinking about it gives me a panic attack*
This week in my life:
🌻 I got behind replying to all your lovely comments and there wasn't much blog hopping this week. I'm so sorry! I'll try to catch up this Sunday.
🌻 As I've been short on time, I still have four episodes of Lucifer to watch. The devil only gets more devilish. 😈 I also have a confession to make: I'm not as excited about the finale of Game of Thrones as I thought I'd be...
🌻 I got my first proofread freelancer job. I was really excited about it, until I realized the translator did an awful job and I found myself translating. Fifteen hours of straight work! The next day, I could not look at the computer screen.
🌻 I got my first proofread freelancer job. I was really excited about it, until I realized the translator did an awful job and I found myself translating. Fifteen hours of straight work! The next day, I could not look at the computer screen.
🌻 Finally started working on a paper that I'll be presenting next month. It's about YA Frankenstein retellings and I'm discussing Cadaver & Queen by Alisa Kwitney and The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White.

- As promised, last Monday I shared my newest post on my mental health series. I compiled a list that features 37 young adult books about mental health. I tried to include a wide-range of mental illnesses, but if I missed something important to you, please let me know.
- This review was supposed to be up on Friday, but I could not force myself to type or stare at the computer screen one minute straight. I reviewed Five Midnights by Ann Dávila Cardinal. What I loved the most about the story is much more than a folk monster that comes to haunt misbehaved children. It's about losing and reclaiming one's culture.

Once again, I didn't have much time to blog hop, but here some discussion posts that I caught my attention (even if I've yet to drop a comment):
- Jessica @A Great Read talks about her undying love for vampires. Loving vampires (or any other supernatural creature) FOREVER!
- Norrie @Reading Under the Blankie shares seven books she wish she could discuss with other people.
- Sam @We Live and Breath Books wonders about why bloggers switch from Blogger to WordPress and why she decided to stay on blogger. As someone who has been wondering about going self-hosted, I've been thinking about this a lot.

I have been trying not to freak out about this, but after keeping quiet for two days I can no longer keep all these feeling bottled up: I GOT AN E-ARC OF SPIN THE DAWN BY ELIZABETH LIM!!! 😠I still can't believe I'm joining the blog tour hosted by The Fantastic Flying Book Club.
Did you have a good week? Any new books?

ReplyDelete~Kendra @ Kendra Loves Books
Thank you, Kendra. :) A thesis gives a lot more work than I ever expected it to. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteOh good luck with your thesis!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Grace. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteCongrats on your proofreading job, that would be my dream job! Have a great week and best of luck on your thesis.
ReplyDeleteThank you. If you would love to do proofreading, don't give up!!! Never give up on something you like.
DeleteHappy readings! ;)
Best wishes that your thesis goes ahead quickly! And congratulations on the proofreading work. You will probably start with the most difficult jobs and then be assigned work that is more and more in finished form already.
ReplyDeleteI've seen people change to WordPress, but for me, it would be extremely difficult to change now, as I'm eleven years in. I blog for fun, so I can't see paying to blog either. It is often frustrating lately to post a comment, but I think that is also true of WP.
Have a great week!
Thank you & thank you. :) I've been using blogger for almost nine years, so making the change to WordPress is something that I need to think through. It's really hard for me to leave my little corner behind (especially when I'm feeling happy about how it looks).
DeleteHappy readings! ;)
My husband and I finished binge watching Lucifer this week. The 4th season is too short!
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be very excited about Spin the Dawn, I hope it lives up to your expectations.
Have a great reading week
AGREE!!! The 4th season needed a few more episodes. Hopefully, there will be a 5th season. *fingers crossed* Happy readings! ;)
DeleteCongratulations on getting the proofreading job. Sorry the manuscript was such a mess though. I am happy you got a book you really wanted. Fingers crossed it lives up to your expectations. Good luck with the YA Frankenstein paper too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sam. :) I still can' believe I received an e-ARC of Spin the Dawn. It's such a big release and my blog is so small that I never expected it to happen.
DeleteHappy readings! ;)
Congrats and good luck with your thesis. Also, I adore the tiny fox and hedgehog in your section dividers!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wendy. :) Aww, thanks. The fox and the hedgehog are super adorable. I loved this set of images so much that I could not resist getting it. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteOh, so cool! Congrats on the job! Everybody talks about Lucifer so much that I think I'll have to check it out. And I'm the same on GoT..
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
I followed you on Instagram and Bloglovin and Twitter!
DeleteThank you & thank you for following. <3 Hope you've an opportunity to watch Lucifer very soon. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteWe're also only halfway through the latest season of Lucifer. My weekly update
ReplyDeleteHope you love the other half as much as I did. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteCongratulation on your first proofreading job, I'm sorry it was far from ideal.

Thank you. Who thought we could love the Devil? =P Happy readings! ;)
DeleteUff, sorry the first freelance job was so diappointing ☹. Hope the next one is gonna be better!
ReplyDeleteThank you Norrie. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteFingers crossed on the thesis! The cover on your new book is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteHappy readings!!!
Good luck on the thesis!
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched any of Lucifer of GOT either for that matter.
Thank you. :) You should definitely watch Lucifer. It's amazing!!! Happy readings! ;)
DeleteI'm curious to hear your thoughts on Game of Thrones now that it's over... Congrats on the job!
ReplyDeleteThank you. :) I fear I would not be very polite about the ending of Game of Thrones.
DeleteHappy readings! ;)
Congrats on your first proofreading job. Sorry to hear about the translating issues. Hopefully the next job will go more smoothly.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Suzanne. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteCongratulations on the first job; sorry if it didn't turn out as you'd like.
ReplyDeleteI imagine lots of people weren't overwhelmed by the finale of GoT.
I like the looks of Spin the Dawn. Happy Reading!
Thank you. :) The ending of GoT was everything I didn't want it to be. The feminist in me was (and still is) ready to plan a Red Wedding.
DeleteHappy readings! ;)
Yay for a new book! And congratulations on getting your first freelance proofreading job. I hope that works out for you and goes well x I also am sooo behind on blog hopping and replying to comments so don't even worry about missing a single week. You're still great x
ReplyDeleteOlivia-S @ Olivia's Catastrophe
Thank you Olivia. :) Awww, you're so sweet. I just feel so bad for not replying back and/or visiting other blogs as often as I'd like to.
DeleteHappy readings! ;)
Oh no! Sorry your proofreading job turned into a whole lot more work than you bargained for!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Yep, it was a lot more work than I was expecting. If whoever did the translation hadn't used Google Translator, it would have been so much easier to proofread the text.
DeleteHappy readings! ;)
Spin the Dawn looks like a great read. I hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Everything about Spin the Dawn screams perfection!!!! Happy readings! ;)
DeleteSpin the Dawn looks so good! I hope you end up loving it. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Alicia. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteFingers crossed for your thesis!!! And Spin the Dawn has such a gorgeous cover!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) The cover of Spin the Dawn is beautiful. *.* I think it might be on my top three of favourite book covers. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteYikes. I hope this is the first of many jobs and that the next one is easier :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kim. Happy readings! ;)
DeleteYay for your thesis. Hope all that hardwork pays off and it's almost finished! Sucks your first freelance job ended up needing so much work though. It should have been easy and that's how freelancing can go sometimes. Hopefully your hardwork pays off with that too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Becky. I'm hoping all this work pays off, but I fear I will not receive as great mark... Happy readings! ;)
DeleteHey!! Thanks for the post. It is so important to spread awareness about mental disorders. Mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, bipolar personalty, autism are really so horrible as they completely ruin the life of a person. I know this because I gonna through this horrible state of mind. To overcome the depression I searched for the best Counsellor in Chiswick. Finally, I get rid of it. Hey! you have shared really a great post.
