I found a lump on her neck on Christmas and since that day I've been
feeling down. When she passed away, things got a little worse. No matter
how hard I try to walk out of this bubble of sadness, I always find
myself back to it. In the last month, I've been feeling a lot more
lethargic - I go from writing/editing my thesis to stay on the couch
without moving. I haven't been able to write or to read properly. I know
what is happening to me, but I'm trying to fight all these feelings and
I know I'll crawl out of this gloomy mood. One of my first steps was
getting back to the blogging world. So, here I'm opening my heart to you
and babbling about books.
What happened in the past weeks:
⛄ My thesis is going well. I've three chapters written, which I have been editing (kinda since I haven't had the energy), and hopefully, I'll be working on the conclusion next week. I can't believe it's almost over!
☕ I discovered a creepy retelling on NetGalley that I really want to send a request for, but too I'm afraid the publisher (it's one of the big publishers) will deny my request. Gathering courage to do it tomorrow and please cross your fingers for me.

⛄ Even though I haven't read much in the last two months, I've read 8 out 10 books for Beat the Backlist (I think I'm going to change my goals for this challenge), 5 out of 15 books for the 2019 Retelling Reading Challenge and 1 out of 6 books for the Dystopia Reading Challenge (however, I still have to review it). I'll be filling my bingo cards by the end of the month in a three-month update post. I haven't started yet the Harry Potter Board Game Reading Challenge. Let's hope I can do it on summer.

ON THE BLOG
- After talking non-stop about A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna on twitter, I finally reviewed this beautifully written space opera. I fell in love with these galaxies sprinkled with a thousand stars and floating cities. I can't thank enough Ruthsic @ YA on MY Mind for the recommendation.
- This week, to celebrate spring, which will arrive next week in this hemisphere, I shared my second discussion post which is about Swoony Romance Tropes. If you haven't read it yet, come share with me your favourite love tropes. Pwetty pwease? ❤
- On Friday, I shared another review. This is one is written in buddy-read style since I had the opportunity to read The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill with Evelina @ Avalinah's Books. You can find my review here and you can find hers in this link. I hope you enjoy our answers to each other questions.

I am so sorry for your loss ): It's so rough isn't it? I lost my kitty in feb to a car and it's been so painful
ReplyDeleteHopefully it will slowly get better soon. It still continues to hurt, I know. I still hurt for my other kitty who I lost two years ago and had since I was a kid.
I hope you have a great weekend, sending you some positive thoughts.
I'm so sorry about your Luna, that's devastating. :( I can't even imagine, although my oldest pet is getting quite old and I'm starting to try to prepare myself. I hope you're able to find something to bring you comfort.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about Luna. :( I lost my most beloved cat (ever) to cancer a year past Christmas and I still cry about it and miss her even though more than a year has passed! It's okay to cry and grieve. (And rage over it if you need to, because I certainly did!)
ReplyDeleteFalling into into a bit of a funk is to be expected too but it's important to not sink too far into the dark so welcome back to the blogging! Fingers crossed this week things are a little bit easier and I hope you get approved for your creepy re-telling book.
((HUGS)) It's so hard to lose a pet. My heart goes out to you. As for the Netgalley thing -- just do it. I keep requesting books from Disney, though they have only said NO to me. If you don't try, you'll new know.
ReplyDeleteSorry for your loss. My dog died from cancer last year, and I still miss her. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!

ReplyDeleteTake as much time as you need.
I think getting back into blogging could be a good step.
I'm so sorry about Luna. Sadness remains, but it looks like you are pushing your way through to accomplish what you need.
