How is everyone doing? Me? Well, I'm exhausted. But nothing that some good books and too many hours of sleep won't restore... I hope.
What happened in my life this last month:
🌻 Yesterday was my birthday (7th July). I'm never excited about it - who gets excited about getting older and realizing that hasn't accomplished much? Because the truth is I haven't accomplished much and no matter how hard I try, I always fail. And if I don't get results, then all the motivation is gone... and all there's is left is disappointment.
🌻 On a brighter note, I returned from France last week. It was a great intensive programme - although, I couldn't enjoy it as much as I wanted because while I was away one of my cats got sick and we still don't know if she's going to make it. All I wanted was to get back home and hug her.
🌻 I visit two amazing bookshops during my stay: Le Bookshop and Shakespeare and Company (the return flight was cancelled, so my and my colleagues had to travel to Paris to catch a new flight; we decided to visit Shakespeare and Company while we were waiting for it).
🌻Which means I bought a lot of new physical books (but none of them is written in French). Well, maybe not a lot since I was able to place them in my bag easily.
LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG
- I reviewed All These Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klehfoth which will be released this week. If you enjoy boarding schools, secret societies and mysterious disappearances then you may want to take a look at this one.
📚 MINI BOOK HAUL 📚

These are all the books I brought with me - I can't believe I got my hands on a pelican edition. I can tell that there was a lot of self-restraint. I still can't believe that all the books fitted my bag.
Wishing everyone a happy bookish week.
Happy Birthday! I don't get all excited about my birthday, but I do like cake. A lot. So, there's that. I am sorry to hear about your cat. I hope everything is ok.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I don’t get excited about being older, but I do get excited for cake. Sorry about the cat. I hope she’s okay. Have a good week!

ReplyDeleteyep, I seem to be the same way ..
So sorry for your kitty.. I hope she did made it and is now better. but happy you got a good time in France, I'd so love to visit one day !
Sorry to hear about your cat. I know how awful it is to have a sick pet-especially when you are far away! I went to that same bookstore in Paris last year! It was SO busy!
ReplyDeleteShakespeare and Company would be so cool to visit, I would think. How fun! And happy birthday!! Sorry you're not really feeling it (what is this getting older stuff??) but hope you have a good one anyway. And best wishes to your cat- so sorry to hear that. How awful.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday and I hope you enjoyed your trip. You certainly did well to restrain yourself at the bookshops, enough to get them in your bag. Anne - Books of My Heart
ReplyDeleteI'm probably the weird one for still getting excited for birthdays even though I'm now on the wrong side of 25. It's probably because I will never not be excited for presents and I always make sure I've the day booked off from work. Those things together make it a great day. Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip and programme (for the most part, hope your cat is doing ok) I am jealous of you getting to visit those cool bookstores though! Sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Oh my! Of course you've accomplished a lot...you have this beautiful blog and you've gotten to go to Paris. At my age, it feels like an accomplishment to just to make it to another year!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday!
