Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish |
As I found too arduous to only choose ten books [there are so many book releases I'm looking forward], I divided my choices in three categories: Leading Ladies, Retellings & Follow-Up.
Sky in the Deep by Adrinne Young. A Viking-inspired world and a kick-butt heroine (and a hate-to-love relationship) are all the reasons I need to add this book to my wishlist. Also, Roshani Chokshi and Renee Ahdieh gave it some ravingg reviews, so it's a must read.
Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody. Love some dark fantasy. Moreover, the main character goes to a world ruled by the Mafia in search of her missing mother.
Everless by Sara Holland. The wait is almost over. I can't believe Everless will be released next week. I'm not happy about the love triangle, but the premise is intriguing and the main character risking her life to save her father make up for a flickering heart.
Sea Witch by Sarah Henning. Firstly, the cover is gorgeous. *.* Secondly, the blurb -"the rise of Hans
Christian Andersen’s iconic villainess is a heart-wrenching story of
friendship, betrayal, and a girl pushed beyond her limits—to become a
monster". Thirdly, Ursula!
The Beast's Heart by Leife Shallcross. No list of mine could ever be complete without a Beauty and the Beast retelling. The premise of The Beast's Heart fascinated me since the story is told in the perceptive of the Beast.
My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows & Brodi Ashton. I still have to read My Lady Jane, but who can resist a Jane Eyre retelling with a supernatural twist?
A Court of Miracles by Kester Grant [the cover hasn't been revealed yet]. A blend of Les Misérables and The Jungle Book.
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir. I love this series so much. 💗 An Ember in the Ashes is my favourite ongoing series and Laia and Elias is a OTP. How I survived a year without plunging into this ancient Rome inspired world, I do not know.
The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden. I read The Bear and the Nightingale this month (why did I take so long to read it?) and everything was so magical. The wintery world, the writing, the characters... PERFECTION!
The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco. I still don't understand how The Bone Witch has such a low rating on Goodreads. A necromancer (I think this is how you write it) with the power to control dragon-like creatures and to rise the dead in a vividly woven world is the perfect ingredient for an enthralling story.
OMG I didn't know about Sky in the Deep, but it sounds absolutely amazing and I just added it to my TBR so fast! Everless and A Reaper at the Gates are both highly anticipated by me as well, and I hope to read The Bone Witch in 2018 so maybe I can binge the sequel directly after it :)
ReplyDeleteYes! I NEED My Plain Jane NOW! My Lady Jane was so much fun, and I cannot wait to see what the Janies bring us next.
ReplyDeleteAll the covers are so pretty - also, a retelling of Jane Eyre? Sign me up for that too! I have yet to read The Bear and the Nightingale but it's definitely on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays!
Ace of Shades and My Plain Jane are both on the top of my TBR for next year too!
ReplyDeleteI had not seen Sea Witch at all. Checking that out now.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to My Plain Jane, too! I loved the first book! :)
ReplyDeleteEverless is one of my most anticipated releases as well. I`m also intrigued by My Plain Jane; can`t wait to see what they do with the story.

So many books I can't wait to get my hands on! I've had my eye on Lady Jane for a while now and the release of the sequel has definitely made me desperate to read it. Same goes for The Bear and the Nightingale! And, of course, for every single book you've added on your list! Hope you're having a wonderful time!

I'm so excited for all these too! I was lucky enough to snag an ARC of Everless so I can't wait to curl up with it today or tomorrow :) I also definitely need to read the prequel to Ace of Shades before its release. It sounds so good! Great list!
ReplyDeleteI'm also looking forward to Reaper at the Gates! I also really love your blog design!
ReplyDeleteMy Plain Jane is one of my most anticipated books too, so hopefully it's just as amazing as its predecessor! Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous post! <3

I love your list and the way you broke it up! Every one of the covers is beautiful but if all of them Sky In The Deep is my favorite. It also releases on my birthday! Great List!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I'm excited for My Plain Jane and Everless, and I recently finished The Girl in the Tower and thought it was wonderful. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI simply cannot wait to get my hands on The Beast's Heart. Every Beauty and The Beast retelling is a win for me!
